Google has begun accepting applications into its pilot ‘Exchange With Google Developers’ program. The program is open to all developers globally who want to learn more about Google Technologies. Developers who need improved ideas for technological solutions for their next projects are also encouraged to apply.
Applications are open from October 15 – November 15, 2021. Applicants must be 18 years of age and above. In your application, you’ll be asked to express a specific problem or challenge you encountered while using Google technologies. Therefore, you need to have experience working with Google tech to be considered for the program.
The program provides community organizers with a platform to create tailored learning and self-development opportunities for mentees based on their specific requests. Mentees will be addressed by assigned mentors in a live mentoring session on Google Meet.
Mentorship will be provided in three different dimensions:Technical guidance: Beginner developers will be supported to become the best in their field. They will be provided with the best Google technical content, certification ideas and advice. Solutions to tech challenges: There will be accelerated brainstorming discussions to help solve challenges that mentees are facing in different areas with their use of Google tech.Tech Excellence: Mentees will have access to suggestions of best-in-class optimizations of existing solutions based on Google tech.
Who can be a mentee?
Beginner and experienced developers who want to gain a better understanding of Google technologies, learning resources, use cases, and best practices. Mentees will be asked to specify their specific technical challenge in their applications.
Who can be a mentor?
Developers who are interested in helping and inspiring others with their knowledge and learning journey. They must be knowledgeable on the subject of mentoring they’ll provide. Typical mentors are GDSs, GDEs, GDSCs, WTM ambassadors, and Accelerator mentors.
Who can be an organizer?
People with a willingness to increase social impact and networking within developer circles. They will be responsible for facilitating mentoring exchanges during the program.
How will I know if I am selected for a mentorship session?
Selected mentors, mentees, and organizers for mentorship sessions will be notified via email.
How do mentors get matched with mentees?
Applications are pre-screened and selected mentors and mentees are invited to join the mentorship platform. There, mentees can select their mentors based on their biodata, technology tags, and other information.
How do I book a slot with a mentor?
You can book an available slot with a mentor of your choice in the mentorship platform. You will both receive a calendar invite to meet on Google Meet.
What is the format of the mentorship sessions?
Mentoring occurs in 60 minutes, one-on-one live sessions. It is possible to group 2-3 developers with similar interests in one session where applicable.
